In the National Premier League Heworth were totally outplayed by league leaders West Hull who showed ruthless clinical efficiency to eventually triumph 60-0 on a blustery day at Elmpark Way. The Humberside outfit now sit six points clear at the head of the table at the halfway stage of the season and look strong contenders to go on and take the championship title in October.
The Villagers conceded five first half tries to trail 28-0 at the break and to their credit, toiled away manfully throughout in an effort to stem the tide but were never able to break down their opponent's rock solid defence. The closest they came on 50 minutes was when substitute Tino Mulase burst through just short of the halfway line before setting up an impressive handling movement which led to winger Zach Towse being bundled in to touch just short of the right corner flag. That was as good as it got for the hosts though as the visitors went on to post six further touchdowns to run out easy winners.
Tino Mulase took Heworth's Man of the match award with Jack Sadler, Adam Dent and debutant Kuari Enoka also catching the eye.
Next Saturday last seasons Division 1 Champions Wigan St Judes are the visitors to Elmpark Way. (2.30p.m)
